BACKGROUND
Linda Quiroz retired after a 30-year career in education.  Her experience in public education is varied.  She has been a high school Spanish teacher in grades 9-12, a bilingual teacher in grades 1-3, an ESL teacher for grades K-6, a Secondary ESL Specialist, an elementary assistant principal, an Elementary Curriculum Coordinator and a Curriculum Director for PreK-12.  In addition, she has taught at the college and university levels.  

PUBLISHED AUTHOR
Linda was recently contracted by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt http://www.hmhco.com to write and record songs for the Texas Journeys and Senderos http://www.hmheducation.com/tx/journeys/index.php reading series which is up for adoption in grades K-5 in 2010.  Fifty of Linda’s songs, which target English and Spanish reading concepts and skills, will be included in six CDs in the materials which classroom teachers in districts/campuses adopting HMH will receive.

METHODOLOGY
Linda Quiroz has developed a variety of educational products for instruction in the classroom.  She is known best for the multi-sensory approach she has developed for teaching academic knowledge and skills.  She has written and recorded more than 200 songs for education in English and Spanish.  Through her experience in Texas Public Schools, Linda is keenly aware of state and national standards and has crafted her music and instructional products in alignment with these.  The English Language Proficiency Standards (Texas Education Agency. “English Language Proficiency Standards.”  TEA.Stat.TX.US. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parental involvement is an area which is near Ms. Quiroz’s heart.  Her students were successful, in part, due to the extensive interaction their parents had with Ms. Quiroz and the school culture.  The parental involvement program titled, PTP/PARTE©, was designed to train parents to assist their children in developing basic reading skills through five simple activities in English and/or Spanish.  PTP/PARTE is currently used by dozens of districts throughout Texas as part of state and federally mandated parental involvement programs.  Click here to learn more about PTP/PARTE.

Linda Quiroz is a motivational and dynamic presenter and keynote speaker with extensive experience at regional, state and national conventions and conferences.  She trains parents, teachers and administrators to use methodology which engages and intrigues through multi-sensory activity.  She has developed creative and unique role play, movement, and dramatization for most of the music she has created
